Help me identify my truck 72 K10. Cheyenne/Custom?

This is the SPID for my 1972 K10 4x4 that has been in the family for 25 years. It had Cheyenne Emblems on it when Dad bought it in 90/91, but Dad always said he didn't think it was a Cheyenne, I don't know why he thought that. He removed all trim and emblems when he painted it in the 90's. Interior has some Cheyenne items, but they could have been added. I would like to put it back to original, but I don't know what is correct. Can anyone get an idea by looking a this?

Monte, I'm by no means an expert but I would say that is a Custom truck. Cheyenne nor Custom Sport Truck code Z84 is listed on the SPID. I've attached a picture of the SPID from my 71 Cheyenne for reference.

So if it is a custom and it only has beltline trim listed and not the lower molding would it have been two toned like the truck parked on the rocks vs the one parked on the pavement? It was painted like the one on the pavement when Dad bought it but it had been painted before.

Monte, I don't have a Janesville plant truck to compare to your SPID. My trucks built in St Louis, Atlanta, and Flint list Belt molding but no lower trim and I know they all came with the lower trim. With that said I'm comparing based on Custom Deluxe, Cheyenne, and Cheyenne Super so I'm not sure about a K series Custom. There are more knowledgeable people here that will chime in to help. As far as the paint my guess would be that it should be painted like the truck on the rocks it you want it original.

Like the one on the rocks. It just says white/olive. Not white /olive/ white /olive

Your truck would have been a base model "Custom", all green with just a white roof, and upper body side moldings

Thanks everyone. Now to decide to put it back original or in the Cheyenne Trim I remember it as.

You could use lower black trim versus the woodgrain trim. The black could have been ordered on a custom and I actually like it as good or better than the woodgrain type. I personally like the paint scheme of the truck parked on the payment and it will not hurt the value of the truck when finished IMO>

personal choice, I like the look either way, mine is a cheyenne and has the two tone green with the white sides and white cab,I am kind of liking the solid colors better these days

Joesjunk nailed it, a Custom with belt molding and a white roof. While the rocks picture is close, it is notably different than how your truck was originally built.

Greg just to be clear lower bodyside moldings were optional on 71/72 Custom and Custom Deluxe trucks. Cheyennes included lower bodyside moldings. Supers included both upper and lower bodyside moldings.

Tim the link you provided and your explanations are always easily understood and appreciated. Digging a little deeper; what are the differences in the picture of the truck on the rocks versus Monte's truck?
