advice on '73 front parking light lenses

I'm new here
I have a '73 3/4 ton GMC that has a broken parking light lens. I'll replace both so they match.

What I have and am after are the simple orange plastic pieces, no metal trim on them and they mount separate from the headlight surrounds.

'Clean from the junkyard would do it but I've been to 3 and I guess you've all beat me to them

I've seen a few advertised on the different Truck Parts sites and they seem to vary quite a bit on price, from $16 to $35 each.

One site has 2 different listings, one for $16 and another for $26.

Has anyone here recently bought some of these and can offer a recommendation to me?

I don't want to unwrap a 'shipment' and find some off color, cheap Chinese reproduction :waah:

Thanks

Well... that might be a problem. Unfortunately, price is not always a good indicator of point of origination. Most MIA parts will have a cost associated with our standard of living... expensive comes to mind. Being willing to support MIA means being willing to pay for that standard of living.

If I were willing to put faded junkyard lenses on my truck, I don't think I would worry too much about imported lenses. Just my opinion.

I would assume the 16 dollar ones would be without the trim and 26 be with. But I'm kinda biased and would rather have a set of originals that are MIA.

after a day I've had no input as to what company sells a nice quality product.

I spoke to LMC on the phone and it sounded like they didn't have what I wanted.

I've ordered a l/r pair from Brother's in Southern California for a total delivered price (to Northern California) of $61.98. ( plastic only, no trim - I'll keep an eye out in the junkyards for these)

I'll post my opinion of these things. thanks to all who responded :gmc2:

I've ordered the lenses from Brothers Truck Parts in s. calif yesterday.

Today I got a call from the credit card company telling me my card has a couple of new charges on it, since my purchase.

I'm being sent a new card & number. I don't know if this problem started with who I placed my parts order with.

The bad guy might have taken my cc number 3 weeks ago, don't know.

Just keeping my new friends here 'in the loop' so to speak

I will let you know what I think of my lenses when they show up along with the parts numbers of the. :gmc2:

Hey Dude, Welcome to the forum. When I need parts for my truck, I always think "Good used OEM or New Old Stock" first. Check the parts board here on this site, Ebay and Craigslist. If all else fails try Brother's, Classic Parts of America, etc. Try not to get in a big hurry.. There are good reasonable parts out there you just have to be patient.

Got my front parking light lenses today from Brothers. They are part #PLL74RH & LH

They look great, nice and smooth without the little 'flake' pieces that squirt out of the molds on some cheap plastic parts.

The amber color looks real nice. I've seen some lenses on cars that look bad from 100 feet

They sent my a well printed color catalog also.

one more time, 'thanks to all that added comments to this posting :gmc2:

'one more thing:
I noticed the lenses didn't have those little numbers around the perimeter so I guess that's the tip off they are not factory pieces?

They wouldn't be Factory GM anyway but all GM ones are marked GUIDE
