rear drums

basic question guys...i pulled my rear drums the other day and they were very smooth and shiny. is this a bad sign? are they too smooth?

Do they squeal ,shudder or shake ? Are the shoes in good condition without cracks and sufficient thickness ? Does it stop? :chevy:
