Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
5 Attachment(s)
Ok guys....how about some opinions on possible or probable value? (...who doesn't like that 'ask'...lol)
The truck is '67 GMC 1/2 ton (small back window/sloped hood) LWB model. It has a 6 cyl (250) and has been converted to a 5 speed manual and has 3.73 posi rear. Some rust in the lower regions but not a complete wipe out body/condition wise. The truck is still pretty stock and original but it needs a resto OR it could be used a relatively good, economical daily driver....perhaps a candidate for shortening/lowering? Pretty much everything in the truck appears to work except the original windshield washer (no surprise) and the signal lights (flasher unit?). Runs great, shifts great, good brakes, good tires, very solid frame....wood in the box needs replacing but it is more or less there. Other points: rear step bumper, trailing arm suspension (not leafs), c/w the original radio (not installed), original air cleaner (not shown installed), seat needs recovering, includes in bed spare tire bracket, non-original mirrors. Ok guys....have at 'er and weigh in, I'd love to get some value opinions on this. Many Thanks Coley:chevy: |
Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
Just grab that from an auction? Not a highly desirable truck so not worth a ton. There's a few rust free partially restored drivers over here on the mainland for $6-8g. Since you're on the Island I'd list for $5g and see if any offers come in & take the highest one. For the Yanks $5g CAD is $3600usd

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
Wholesale $500
Retail $2000 |
Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
i'd think it is closer to the 500 mark

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
$500? hmmm, that seems a little low.
I can't remember the last time I saw an older (classic) truck that ran well, drove, looked reasonable and was pretty original for $500. Although I've seen a few non-running 'parts trucks' for that. Maybe I should have asked for the last examples that people sold and what they got for them...(particularly the $500 trucks....lol).;) If anyone can post up any local $500-$1000 trucks that would be great....lets see what the lower end market actually looks like. Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/5448015562.html This is more like a $500 truck but asking $2000. The white truck is higher obviously. Question is if it's going through an auction how hire will it go? Lately at the auctions here guys have been paying way over market value or right at market value for something when it used to always be wholesale pricing.

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
I looked at a 72 GMC that was at the Ritchie Bros. auction here in Chilliwack, my son and I thought it was pretty rough and figured it would be a good deal for 3000-4000. It sold for an even 10,000.00 . It was dolled up a bit , put a little elbow grease into yours and 4000.00-6000.00 could be a possibility. ( for our American friends that's about 3000.00 US ) your going to have to put some work and a bit of cash into it but you'll get a much better price than as it sits now in my opinion.

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
You have $2,000.00 US in parts sitting there so rolling down the road as a driver it would sell here for $3-$3,500.00 .it's a '67 1/2 ton driver.
The days of $500.00 driver trucks is long gone . The guys saying $500.00 haven't bought one lately and if they know where they are selling for $500.00 let us all know ?:chevy: |
Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
People buying $500 trucks aren't going to post where they find them

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
I wouldn't dismiss the guys who buy survivor running trucks for $500 all day. They're also the same guys that can restore them to win Pebble Beach for $15,000 so you want to stay on their good side.

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
I think in a private sale that truck could get $2000 near me.

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
Oregon still has a lot to offer, most are farm "Rigs" as we call them, low optioned ,but a good start for most new to the hobby. You can still get one for $500.00 once in a while but plan on spending more for a descent one.....jmo:waah:

Re: Opinions on (probable) GMC market value
The 5spd swap, running/driving, and looking 1/2 decent puts it way past a $500 truck. $500-$1,000 is parts truck prices. I'd put this in the $2,500 range, so $1,500 would be fantastic and $3,500 not the end of the world. It's worth that for a hop in and drive vehicle
