90 degree fittings on fuel pump?

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys , I might be beating a dead horse here but once again a search yielded nothing. I'm working on running the fuel line for a relatively stock 454. It's 3/8" line with a mechanical pump and an edelbrock performer carb plus an edelbrock inline filter. Is it advisable to have a 90* fitting coming straight out of the fuel pump like in the picture below? (Not my picture, stolen from another member for reference) With the fluid restriction that 90* fittings provide, would I be in danger of starving the engine for fuel or possible putting extra strain on the pump?

I really doubt that a single 90 degree fitting would be enough to cause a starvation issue, if there was any trash that may find it's way into the pump, then it may cause a issue, (trash maybe caught trying to make that immediate 90 degree turn) but I doubt you would ever see that, running a good fuel filter.

If anything, those 90 degree fittings will help reduce your fuel pressure to the carb.
Eddy carbs don't like more than 5.0 psi.
Use an eddy pump rated at 5.0 psi or a fuel regulator.

No way that fitting is hurting anything as long as it is a quality fitting.

No offense meant, just my humble opinion. That fitting is not affecting pressure. Speed of fuel might be increased between the point it enters the fitting and exits the fitting. The extra hose after that eliminates any impact from accelerated fuel.

I have a 90 degree fitting on my big block camaro...never had any fuel delivery issues with the same pump you have.

Excellent, thanks guys. Having a 90 in there will make routing this thing a whole lot easier!
