Interesting Find

Was vacuuming the truck out today and found this. Anyone know if this can recharged and used again?

Re: Interesting Find
I highly doubt it. I believe that there is a lifespan on the canister. We just had to get rid of a bunch of job site units for this reason. I'm not sure if yours can be recertified, I just know that ours couldn't.

Re: Interesting Find
Cheaper to buy a new one.

Always good for display of an era-correct extinguisher

There used to be people around that refilled them but they are pretty much gone because of liability reasons. When I was on the Fire department years ago we refilled them for the public at no charge, but they discontinued the service because of the liability and the fact that extinguishers were being sold pretty cheap at the big box stores. Keep it for the nostalgia and buy a new one for the truck. There are GM branded extinguishers like that out there but they are hard to find.... LockDoc |

Its funny this topic came up, I have two old fire extinguishers from 1973 in my basement, and was wondering if they can also be refilled, since they are period Correct. Also funny is the gauge still reads full, but I know it will just be one quick fart and its done.
