question about lock sets

The key for my ignition and doors doesn't fit my hatch; maybe the guy that owned the Blazer before me switched tops and/or hatches. Anyway, all the lock sets I see for our trucks only come with 3 locks -- for the ignition and 2 doors. Does anybody offer 4 or more locks all keyed the same?

Nope.
I have one key for ign. and doors only as well.
The lock tumbler on the rear hatch is smaller and the ign./door key is too long.

I agree with BobbyK, but I have heard that if you need a new key for the hatch (read a post from Gee-Emm ) that you can buy the "T" handle for the hatch at any hardware store with a set of keys for approx. 10.00 or so? (Not real sure on the price) maybe Gee-Emm can post and let us know for sure? :)

I have seen lock sets that include the glove box too. I doubt that will work on the rear hatch. You might be able to get a locksmith to re-key it for a small chunk of $.

Oh ya,my ign. key is the same for my glove compartment as well.
I forgot about that one.
And ya they sell those set's too.

Ya I read Gee-Eem's post on the "T" handle.I've had my hatch handle apart but never compared the two.I'll bet a garage door "T" handle lock would work.

A locksmith would be able to rekey your tumbler but at a cost.

i use the same key for my ign/doors/and hatch. but the ign is getting sloppy do they make a kit to rebuild it?

BobbyK 09-24-2003 03:08 AM

You can get replacement ign. tumblers from just about anybody.

Page 29 of the Brothers catologe lists a lock cylinder with keys(2) for $11.95.

Page 156 of LMC's catologe list's the same for $7.95.

I have the sets that service the doors, ignition and glove box w/ on key for 45.00, I have been dealing with blazer rear hatch handles that you can get from a hadware store for a while now, we have to cut the shaft and drill a hole in it so it will be the same a the original rod. We also took them to a local locksmith here in Phoenix and he said he couldn't re-key them to match the other locks (maybe a different locksmith could but they look like they wouldn't come apart witout breaking).

What is the purpose of the hole in the Blazer T-handle shaft? I'm doing a garage door T-handle conversion on mine and I don't see anything that uses the hole.

Thanks in advance!

There is a cotter pin that goes through the tiny hole to hold the shaft to the handle.

The garage door handles and door locks use totally different keys, I think they use a different type of waffer design so I would be surprised if you could get one key made that would fit both. Deal with it, its only an extra key :p
