Best Parts Supplier (Blazer)
 

Since I'm new to the Blazers, which in your guys view is the best parts supplier for these trucks? I know there are a lot of used parts out there and that's great, but I would like to know which parts place sells the best stuff at the most reasonable price?

Also, is there a lot of reproduction stuff out there for the Blazer, or do you need to find part and redo them?

Were are you located? I buy a lot of parts from PickupsNW because they are just up the road from me. There are also several very good vendors in the Olympia, WA area (Classicheartbeat & Frank's Pick-M-Ups). LMC has a great catalog with nice illustrations & photos, but some don't like to use them. Chevy Duty, GMC Paul, Brothers, MotherTruckers all have reasonable prices and good selection too. The Truck Shop in So. Cal has some of the best prices I've seen, but I've heard questions about their quality. I bought some new mirrors there and they seem just fine to me.

I'm located in Jacksonville, Florida (Remember the Rally Wheels..ha) I guess it doesn't matter too much since there's not a place right near me so I'd have to have most stuff shipped anyway. I just didn't know if many companies made parts for the Blazer...I guess they do. What are some of the parts that aren't reproduced that are hard to come by. I have a '72 Blazer...

Since the blazers and trucks share so many parts you can check with vendors on this board. I have only bought parts once and it was through LMC (Before I knew about this board). I just bought some heater core seals, and had no problems. The next time I get parts I'm going through some of the folks who are on the board. Kingparts, Christian, GMC Paul, ... LMC was o.k., but you won't talk to anybody who knows anything about our trucks (just operators who take the order).
As far as parts that are not reproduced I guess the lip on top of the tailgate to stop the hatch. The seals on the sides for the tailgate. The plastic caps on top of doors above the vent windows. The seat hold down clamps and brackets. Spare tire holders (interior and exterior). Oh ya, the ever searched for tow hooks. Can't think of anything else, but I'm sure others will.

I've seen the tailgate lip in a catalog somewhere. If I find it I'll post it.

Cool!! I've never seen one offered before. Mine could stand to be replaced. Has anybody ever seen the metal and I guess rubber strips that go on the sides inside the bed? I guess they are for sealing up the sides of the tailgate.

I've seen the strip that goes along the bottom of the tail gate, but never the side things you are talking about. In fact, I don't think I have ever seent them on a Blazer, but it makes since. Maybe less exhaust fumes would come back into the passenger compartment.

On the tow hooks... I've seen that before where people were searching for them. Where did they attach and what is differnt about them than a regular hook? Is it that people just want the original ones?

Thanks for the info. on the parts suppliers. I prefer to talk to a supplier that knows something about the vehicle instead of an order taker. I guess in the past I have purchased parts from both, but just like to discuss with someone who has actually used the parts.

The original tow hook have become worth their weight in gold. There are a few other parts that seem to be heading that way, like the rear seat front brackets.

As far as vendors go, MotherTruckers is in Florida. Since I am just about as far away from Florida as possible in the continetal US, I don't know where in relationship to Jacksonville they are.

The truck shop is a little like LMC as far as personal attention. But their prices are usually a lot less than the other vendors. You probably won't find any NOS stock there though, it is all repro.

I can get the metal piece on top of the tail gate they are 45.00 (I don't stock them because there hasn't been much interest in them)

I've got a 72 K5 and the bed sides in need of replacing. What can I do about that. I haven't seen any of those being reproduced. Any help would be great.

no one makes bedsides except for the short bed trucks, and I carry most everything for blazers.

Big J, I have sold several Short Fleetside bedsides for Blazers. They need to be cut in the front, and you need to save some of interior parts from your origanal bedside. They work great for Blazers though. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
