64 K10 Drag Link

Does anybody know of any other options for a replacement drag link for a 64 K10? (Other than the RP27769 Rare Parts replacement?) GM part number 3854943 which has not been available for a number of years is impossible to find.

Thanks for any help...

You could make a new one by welding two together, using currently available ones. Moog master parts book should list them by size. Will try to get a photo of one made that way, should be in a pile on the back 40. Need to do some research, kind of remember some newer Ford parts will work, maybe late 60s or early 70s. Their are other members here who really remember this stuff better.

Found photos, not exactly what you need, however, this is from a stock '64 style steering gear box to a newer Dana 44 front axle '79. The same concept could work for you. The one pictured uses late 70s Ford F-250 parts per member "obijuan". Possible could PM him with your question / best parts to use to make one.

Photo, showing the welded made up linkage, know not the best looking. You could make more stock looking by choosing certain parts.

Any idea what the part numbers are on those tie rod replacement ends?
It wouldn't be hard for me to make something up, that is heavy duty and adjustable

If needed, have original Dana 44 out of '64 K10 right now and can photo one end and measure. May take a day or two. Let me know?

Got over to storage today to measure and found my original was not as apart as I remembered, still all together. However, did measure the welded together one, the part I measure is same as my '64. The dia of the steering linkage tapered shaft, going into the pitman arm, opposite the nut in first photo below is 0.750". Rested the calipers right on the pitman arm surface for this measurement. The steering linkage threaded shaft, that goes into the pitman arm is 5/8". Hope this is understand able.

Also couple of photos of the made-up steering linkage to adapt newer Dana 44 axle to '64 to '66 K10 steering gear box.

Hope this helps some. After looking at the Moog Master Parts catalog, if you need any more measurement from this steering linkage let me know.

Yes, those are original Camper Special wheels 16.5 x 9.75 to the right in last photo.

I built for my power steering conversion. the small tie rod fits in the steering arm with the right taper. the big tie rod end goes in to my pitmen arm on the p/steering box. don't know if the taper is the same on your set-up. go the Napa parts and they have the spes on these i think.

Re: 64 K10 Drag Link

I would say 2234R as it's a smaller box.

Just wondering if anybody has the specifications for Moog part number DS733?
