Can I put a 73-87 bench seat in a '72 K20?
Has anyone used a bench seat out of a 73-87 Chevy truck and mounted it in a '72 Chevy pickup? Is it a pain in the ass?
Thanks! |
Re: Can I put a 73-87 bench seat in a '72 K20?
I have never seen a 73-up seat that looked like it would fit in a 67-72, but I have not seen them all.
I have a seat in my garage a former co-worker gave me, he said it was out of a 75, and looks exactly like a 67-72 type, but he is not a reliable person. I think it likely came out of a 71 or 72. The 73-up seats I recollect will take a lot of modifying to get bolted in...I could be wrong. Clear as mud? :D Anyone? |

I have a square seat to put in my 71 one ton truck I was under the impression you could bolt the older tracks to the newer seat and bolt it in. That is the plan for the one i have when the time comes[if the time ever comes]

I have a bench from a mid-'80s truck (Suburban, actually) in my '72. You have to fab brackets out of plate steel to attach the '72 tracks to the newer style bench.

The front bolts line right up, but the spread front to back is longer. You'd have to do something about that. But, yeah, they work well. The backs sit higher and you see a few inches through the window, which isn't awful. If you don't already have the correct seat, you could find just the brackets to eliminate the need for altering the floor
