What color for original t case adapter?

Putting in a 465/205 in the 72 burb and will be going with the red primer for those but wondering if the adapter was red too. I can see old red on the trans and t case but the adapter is just pure heavy surface rust, were they just plain cast color?

Mine was just raw cast... well that and a dark oil color from the fracture!
