Superbright LED's

In case anyone is wondering about swapping out the old 168 or 194 dash lights for LED's, let me tell you this - DO IT!!! I have had my truck for 1.5 years and have never seen the dash at night. I pulled out the original 194 bulbs and replaced them with 168's and cleaned the circuit board terminals, no difference. I decided to give Superbright LED's a try. Purchased (4) of the 360 degree bulbs (5 LEDs per bulbs) for the (4) main lights in the cluster and the results were amazing!!! Without a doubt the best $20 ever spent on my truck. :chevy:

Do you have a link to the actual bulb/lamp you used? That'd be handy, as I know the website but they likely have a dozen different ones.

I ordered some blue and green ones (the dash being green) but didn't care for them, but some bright white ones would have been nice.

Can you dim them

WLED-NWHP5: Natural White is the exact bulb I used. The natural white gives off a nice color, not too intense like the blue or green. I am not able to dim them, but the brightness is fine. They are $5.95 each and I received them in a couple days. I ordered new bulb sockets as well, but they are too small and dont fit, so I reused the originals with no problem.:chevy:

I'm pretty sure I saw a write-up on here for someone that replaced their 168/194 bulbs with LEDs and wired them up so that they are dimmable.

I think they might have introduced extra load into the circuit so that the LEDs saw less voltage/current as you turn the knob. They also didn't get the dimming set perfectly, so the top 25% did pretty much all the dimming, and the other 75% of turning did nothing.

I run 194 LED's in my truck. They make a huge difference at night. I bought them at Wal-Mart. Seems like they were about 8 bucks for a two pack. More than worth the money

Glad you're happy with the LEDs. Have owned several vehicles of this vantage over the years and never understood why so many have trouble seeing their dash at night.
