Wheels don't go round and round...
I am looking for a wheel upgrade for my C20 project and to save some money, I keep my eyes peeled for someone selling off a nice set at a reasonable price.
That being said, can someone 'splain to me how some of the newer 8 x 6.5" pattern wheels say they only fit 2009 and newer... 2011 and newer, etc Chevy pickups? What makes one set of 8 x 6.5 so much different from what we run on the Squares? I realize some have sensors and I won't be using them, but that shouldn't be the issue to my way of thinking. Last thing I want to do is pull the trigger on a set of wheels and be holding the air hose... so to speak. |
Re: Wheels don't go round and round...
wheel studs and back spacing are two reasons

Re: Wheels don't go round and round...
Wheels from 2011 and newer trucks won't work, they are 8x180mm. Wheels from a 3/4 suburban will work up to 2013.
8x6.5 is 8x6.5. I would pull the tpms sensors and run regular valve stems. You will need conversion lug nuts to run the factory center caps. |
Re: Wheels don't go round and round...
another factor is the hub bore size

Re: Wheels don't go round and round...
As stated chevy changed patterns. Ford changed to a different metric pattern in I think 1999. Neither will bolt up.
I'm not sure if stud sizes are the same on all 8x6.5 or not. |
Re: Wheels don't go round and round...
Metric studs were introduced for the gmt400 trucks.
If the wheel is from a gm, the hub bore is the same. |
