1969 Longhorn wanna be farmtruck
Stole the almost all original truck for 600 bucks! Came with a power pac 327. Story goes the old man bought it new from Bigelow Chevrolet in 69. He took off the tailgate and threw on a camper hitched up the boat. It's guesstimated he put around 100,000 on it by 1979 and the motor croked. He threw in the 327 and put the tailgate back on and sent it on its way. It landed in Redmond where the guy I got it from, threw on the camper hooked up the boat, and put about 40,000 on her. He drove it through the late 80's and ended up parking it for good around 1990. He said he had moved it under its own power about five times since then. I went up there put clean gas in it and a fresh battery and she roared to life! Well not really roared.. More creaked but it ran and it ran good! Handed the man the money, cleaned a spot on the windshield of moss and dust, and drove it an hour home. No problem. Gave her a bath and a wax fresh tires and a tune up the next day and drove the hell out of it. Then I got a wild hair and decided the 350 sittin in the shop looked a lot better between some wheel wells. Long story short the 350 goin in now is nothin special just fresher then the 327( new cam, carb, gasket kit, and an hei). And I'm just gonna freshen the whole rig up make it a driver. Not sure how to upload multiple pics but I will post some asap. :chevy:

I am searching for original hubcaps! I've only got one real rough one (more like wall art) I have the steelies painted up ready but am contemplating new tires again. I don't like the look of the mud terrains on it too.. chunky. I prefer the look of the taller skinny tires commonly seen on these trucks from the factory, What are these called? The tires on the steelies are old snow tires, those aren't the mud terrains on the truck now. Attachment 1515564 |

The 350 before it goes in, I painted it up and ditched the fancy valve covers for some original style ones.

Well all I've got to do now is drop in the dizzy, set timing and break in the cam. Never broken in a cam so I'm kinda nervous but we will see what happens, gotta learn somehow! I just want this thing back on the road. I've got another truck to build

Well, got it runnin and broke in the cam set the timing. and oh boy what a difference a more appropriate cam and carb combo make! No hesitation anywhere through the throttle, no coughing or sputtering I mean it really runs great. Gonna take her to work tommorow see how it does.. It's a probationary period so first thing I am gonna do tommorow is pickup a fire extinguisher. Better be safe then sorry  no pics seeing how I was so pumped about it all I forgot. Once wheels are on and rear bumpers painted i will have more pics.

Been busy at work and workin on the truck a lot! Havent had much time to post.. But I got the right wheels on and got a set of decent chrome caps. Threw them on the front, look pretty good.. Removed about a mile of wire from saddle tank stuff and rewired the fuel gauge(works better now) just did the breaks and fresh oil! Life is good! This is the trucks bad side but the dent poppin party is this weekend( feel free to swing through with a suction cup... Lol) I also installed the heater controls and got that all workin. Oh and spent my tax refund before getting it.. Come on interior parts:metal:
