upper ball joint with rivets ?
I need to replace upper ball joints on 1980 2wheel dr. half ton and they still have the rivets.Should I invest in a air chisel or will a grinder work.I need to do this in a afternoon so I,m just trying to get all my ducks in a row.Any other pitfalls I might encounter on this project ?

Re: upper ball joint with rivets ?
You can grind the rivets down but you'll likely still need a punch and hammer to knock them out. I tend to use a cutoff wheel and make an X pattern through the head and then use my air chisel to knock off the pieces and then put in a drift punch into the air chisel to punch them out.
