76 k10 rare????
So i went to see a man about an 84 k20 and while looking at it I noticed a k10 behind the barn and when he told me what it was and that it had no rust I had to take it home along with the 84. Now I bought it because I'm kinda a project hoarder but I've also never seen one like this its a 76 k10 Scottsdale factory 350 4bbl with a 3 speed column shift, was this a common truck or am I correct in thinking that not many were produced? I haven't found another searching anywhere.

Re: 76 k10 rare????
I would think they were fairly common then, not so much now.
That's just my thoughts. No data to prove that. |
Re: 76 k10 rare????
Thank you Jake for the reply, my plan is to put it back on the road soon and have a nice driver although Im sure with that engine and transmission combofuel mileage is going to be horrible but who cares about that when driving a cool old truck.

Re: 76 k10 rare????
I think no squarebody is rare just not as common. 76 was a good year for truck sales. In 1979 when the 2nd energy crisis came along fuel prices soared which hurt 80-81 truck sales, they slowly picked up after that when fuel came back down in the mid to late 80's. There are less k10's then c10's and less short beds than long beds, so if you have a k10 short bed, there were not as many made as a c10 longbed ect. Even the "newest" k10 is almost 30 years old now, these trucks will eventually get more rare and sought after.

Re: 76 k10 rare????
There's no reason that mileage will be any worse on a 3 speed, as all trannys offered then had 1:1 final drive. TH350, TH400, SM465, and whatever the 3 on the tree option is... all 1:1 final drive so mileage depends on rear end far more than tranny.

Re: 76 k10 rare????
Rare is as rare can be. I have a 79 step-side SPORT and I see more Ferrari's and Lamborghini's in Northwest Indiana, than I do my truck. So I would not consider it to be valuable just something people dont see very often

Re: 76 k10 rare????
If it is a K10, being 4 wheel drive with a 3 on the tree, it is very rare, I haven't seen one before, and I have had and still have chevy 4x4's all in the seventies...
