Steering wheel help

How many different types of woodgrain have been offered on the steering wheels from 1973 to 1977. Did the woodgrain on the 1977 match the gauge bezel, dash trim and door panels that were only offered that year?

Re: Steering wheel help

I'm still searching for the answer, Did 1977 offer a steering wheel with the chestnut woodgrain? I've spent the last couple days searching through the forum, reading sales brochures and looking at pictures but still can't find the answer.
One other question I came up with while trying to find my answer is, Did the woodgrain wheel have an option number? In one of the brocures it lists a custom wheel, is that the woodgrain wheel?

Re: Steering wheel help

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the RPO N31 custom steering wheel is the one with the woodgrain. In 2 wheel drive trucks, the N31 steering wheel was automatically included with the Z84 (Cheyenne / High Sierra), and YE9 (Silverado / Sierra Classic) packages. And the custom wheel was only available in 4x4 trucks with power steering. This info comes from the GM Heritage Center Vehicle Info Kits.

According to the parts catalogs, the 1973-1976 custom steering wheel was GM #9755905 and the 1977 custom steering wheel was GM #9758309 --> http://www.gmpartswiki.com/getpage?pageid=216843 So that seems to suggest the 1977 wheel likely had the chestnut grain pattern to match the rest of the 1977 woodgrain pieces.

Thanks for your input, I found a good website with the brocures listed for all the years so I've been going through them (brochures.slosh.com). With the link you provided I'll have alot more to checkout.
