1985 K20 transfer case
 

Just purchased a '85 K20. It has sm465 transmission and np208 transfer case. The transfer case housing is busted (chain came through housing). What all years will work without doing any major modifications? I would like to have a np205 but that isn't a necessity. Thanks for any information.

Any 208 from a th400 or 465 truck will swap in directly. they are in 1500 an 2500 trucks from 81-87? a 205 from an 85-91 K30 will bolt in as well. you will need a few of the associated goodies from the 205 truck to make it an oem looking install, but the hard parts bolt together.

Yeah you should have no problem finding a np208 its really common.

I didn't figure they would be too hard to come up with. I've just now started looking. I have a friend that has a couple older 205s. I haven't saw them yet but i assume they are the figure 8 pattern. I guess I will just put a 208 in for now and if i happen to stumble across a 205 change it later.

You can get them from cucv part outs very common. Any 85 + passenger drop 32 spline tcase can bolt up. 205 will need the round pattern adapter with it. 241 from an 89 burb or k5 will work too. After that they are vss.

I haven't got one yet. Haven't been looking too hard. I wanted to pull mine out and confirm 100% what i needed before i bought one. I've been pretty busy and haven't had time yet. I'm just a little over an hour from you. If you don't care pm me your number and i will give you a call. Thanks
