Throttle cable bracket help

1 Attachment(s)
Guys needing your help figuring this out. I ordered this bracket from Summit as they said it was the correct for my edelbrock carb. I go to install it and ran into a problem. I can not get he throttle cable into the bracket. There looks to be no way it's going to fit unless I cut the bracket up. Do I have the wrong bracket? Or does the truck have the wrong throttle cable? Truck is a 72

I ran into the same problem when I bought mine. I ended up cutting the top of the bracket and trimmed the rubber so it would slide on. I read here on the forum somewherr that the the later trucks have the correct throttle cable for the bracket. I also bought the matching kick down cable bracket and it works just fine.

That was what I was thinking I was going to have to do. Just didn't want to cut the bracket and then find out I had the wrong cable. You have any pictures of your installed?

Search the parts boards, the factory brackets come up used now and then. Member RogerKoop had some for sale a while back. The factory one has a round hole with a wedge shaped slot cut into the side of it.

I can't use any bracket but something like I already have. Running an air gap intake with no where to mount a stock style

Stock bracket mounts on the left rear carb mounting bolt/stud.

Re: Throttle cable bracket help

The factory bracket will have about a 1/2" slot in the side of it that the rubber grommet on the cable slides into. I'd just cut a slot.

It will look like the top part of this bracket.

Ok I had seen one that mounted to the intake and I thought that was how the stock one were. I've already go he mounts and brackets just will have to do some trimming to the one to get it to fit

This is what the stock bracket looks like. It does not have the provision for kickdown cable, however.

Yep... The one I showed is an aftermarket bracket made by Holley. I used one on my 1972 GMC cable, but had to modify it to work with my setup.
