So, after some research on paints I'm going with the TCP Global Hot Rod Black/Satin paint.

Is this paint easy to spray? We've got a garage that's large that we will spray in.

Is it tough to get a uniform look with it?

Whats everyone's personal experience with it?

Go to your local paint Store and ask for thier advice. They'll walk you through the steps.

I've used summit racing house brand paint on a number of projects, and have had very good luck with it. It's tough to beat the price, it sprays very nice, and they have a nice hot rod black.

I have not used any of the flats. I mostly paint on late model stuff and do tons of just panel and blending repairs. Very rarely do I do an overall paint job. BUT having said that if your gun is clean[tear it down and clean it every time you spray anything]and you keep your overlaps the same the gun distance the same and the gun speed the same during your paint you will be fine. Oh yeah, don't for get to manage the air pressure. Do a test panel before starting on the truck an old hood or bedside heck even a big piece of cardboard works.

One thing you need to be aware of, this doesn't affect me as I don't buff anything, but if you make a mistake and need to sand and buff it like you would on a regular job, your not gonna be able as the buffing will bring a little shine to the paint. Just keep in mind what you spray is what you get.

what he said, flats are a big PIA to get right even on the third try. You need a dust free booth, perfect body work, it shows everything, every imperfection, nick dent, sand mark and if you get dust nibs on it or you see something dark or light you start over.

If you are concerned about cost [and who isn't] look into some lower gloss[ semi] equipment enamel you can get a gallon for about $30 bucks and sometimes catch it as low as $19.
Or you may want to try some like Omni MP172 and then spray it with a matte clear coat. You can mix some regular clear in with the matte clear to have yourself a customized blend that you can change the gloss level to best suit your needs.
