Question for the Spid Gurus

Maybe this is common but I don't remember seeing it before. What is included in the " Z16 Appearance Option " on this 1971 GMC? When I saw that RPO I knew that the same RPO used for the 1965 Malibu SS396 that there were only 201 of them made in 1965.

Re: Question for the Spid Gurus
not sure but it's not the same Z16 - for the chevelle it added the 396/375 to the 65 Mailbu SS. along with the turbo-jet badging and a black rear panel between the lights. Rare car. It's also an option on aerocoupe monte carlos and some newer trucks - but I'm not sure what it would be for an olderer GMC truck. If only it meant 375 horse 396... :)

Re: Question for the Spid Gurus
The most likely answer IMHO is its the GMC specific "Super Custom" identification modification to Z62 CUST COMF&CONV EQUIP.
This is based on a another Oshawa SPID listing the line items: Z17 CUSTOM APPEARANCE OPT Z17 GRANDE Z84 CUSTOM SPORT TRUCK Again Oshawa added a few line items to SPID that are normally only seen on build sheets on US assembled vehicles. A common example is the D99 cab paint divider molding on two-tone trucks. |

Here's one
Z16 appears on SPIDS with the Z62 option and Z17 appears on SPIDs with the Z84 option. Attachment 1523156 |
Re: Question for the Spid Gurus
Hey Already Gone,
I was really wondering about Tim having "aspic". Kind of worried for a second. I even googled it and expected to find that it was a rare condition where a person has automatic recall of 67-72 SPID's and option codes. Hah! Just realized the "s" in "aspic" was an extra. That cracks me up, it was a good laugh, Thanks! |
