AC Problem/Question

1979 Chevy C30: When the AC loses Freon pressure, does the entire heater & blower stop working? Including the control of vents, heat, etc? Mine seems to. thanks, frank

Re: AC Problem/Question

Freon should have no effect on the operation of the vents and blower. It just won't get cold.

Yeah you got a blower problem or wiring problem,Like said with no freon youll still have heat and the ac will still blow but never get cold.

Re: AC Problem/Question

Freon will not affect the blower or the vents. The Mode (vent) selection is vacuum controlled on your truck and the blower motor is electrical. all three are not interconnected to work. There are pressure switches in the A/C lines for low freon and for high pressure to cutout the compressor under certain conditions but they do not kill control to the panel inside the truck. If the modes are not working you most likely have a vacuum leak or your multi port valve at the control is not working. the blower could be no power to the switch, the switch, the blower resistor, wiring to the motor, or the motor.
