Tire size on 15" x 6" Steelies?
 

Hey all,

I have a 65 Burb 4x4 and have been looking for 16" x 6 lug, 4 nub wheels for some time. I've come to the conclusion that finding 4 of these is going to be almost impossible. As plan B, I found a set of 15" x 6" 4 nub. I am looking for the largest aggressive size tire that will fit on this rim. Is anyone running a 30x9.5R15 size tire on a 15" x 6" rim? Most of the tire brands indicate a minimum recommended rim size of 6.5" for the 30x9.5R15 tire. I am not sure if I can make them work. Any input is much appreciated!

Thanks Bad4wd! I was looking at those same ones on Summit. Before I buy them I want to explore all radial options for the 15 x 6" rims. Was thinking that I might be able to squeeze a 30x9.5R15 radial on this rim.

Hey Miles,

I ended up getting Buckshot Wide Mudders in N78 -15, which are about 31x9.5. Still looking for 16" rims though. Here are the tires and rims.

FWIW, I installed 30x9.5R15 BFG All Terrains on 15x6 4 nubs earlier this year. Got a very nice price from Costco and they had no problem fitting them up. Costco is very strict about wheel tire combos they'll install, so my conclusion is the combo is safe.
