Lift and tire question
I recently bought a 79 gmc k20 longbed that has been lifted with a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift with 37" military tires. If i remove the body lift will my truck still clear the tires without much rubbing until i can afford to get new wheels and tires. It wont be used for offroading other than the minor things like just driving through fields for hunting.
Thanks |
Re: Lift and tire question
Can't believe no one chimed in here yet. I had the same lift as you but was running 38.5 Gumbos. After taking the body lift out the tires would hit when turned. These trucks need lift to fit any type of bigger tire. I'm not sure about clearing 37's but my guess right off the top of my head would be no they will hit. You can always take the body lift out and try it. They are a piece of cake to install. If they hit you can trim the fenders if you want to do that kind of thing.

Re: Lift and tire question
Backspace and width of the wheel will make a big I run a set of 15x38.5x16.5 on a set of 16.5x9.75 wheels with just a 6" lift they only rubbed when it flexed

Re: Lift and tire question
I have 7" lift and run 37" goodyears on my K20, the PO did cut the fenders a little but i think they would still clear. The 37" military tires are closer to 36". I do have 1 ton axles, so I probably have a little more lift from the difference in the axles.

Re: Lift and tire question
My one ton clears 37's pretty well, no cut fenders. It will rub a bit if flexed while turning but not often. 6 inch lift
