Questiosn: Restoring a LWB Stowage Box Door (1972 C20)
5 Attachment(s)
Hi.
Anyone on the message board restore a stowage box door? Looking for tips. I am planning on using a repair panel from LMC for the lower front passenger side bed to make a new skin for the door. As I started to strip away the rust and rot, I found a few things that I wanted to know if anyone had encountered before... 1. It looks like the hinges were welded to the door as well as screwed. Is this factory? 2. When I started to strip the door of paint, I found a SUPER thick coat of bondo on the whole door. Is this factory? |

My hinges were only screwed on and had no bondo. Probably a bad repair. a couple screws on mine broke when removing and that's probably why they welded. Mike

The Bondo would be an aftermarket addition:)

Re: Questions: Restoring a LWB Stowage Box Door (1972 C20)
Thanks guys... I figured it was redone at some point... the odd part is when I strip off the layers, there is green paint obviously as the top lay, but then a few layers down before the bondo, there is another green paint layer, same color as the truck. The handle also looks like its set out and not flush with the body... ah well, i have a ton of work to do to it, so we'll see how it turns out. Still need to find or make some hinges...
