Ok this is a whole new world to me.... I traded my project vw bug to this 66 suburban knowing parts are hard to come by.
This chevy is in bad need of a lot of work but i could not pass it up when i was offered it!! I have had many trucks/cars but this is my first suburban.
I will work on it when i can and do the best i can when i get a free sec. Away to do so.
You can look at the pics i have and tell me I'm stupid or wasting my time but that ok because i love old chevy's... Any help you may have in my long and i say long road ahead would be great!
Also can you all tell me how much factory stuff is on my suburban?
Thanks to all that can help and to all the suburbans i have looked at on this site keep up the good work!!!
Poor boy just getting by on life:metal:

I think im going to keep it origianl.. only thing i would like to do is fix rust, get it safe for the family and maybe lower it a bit and drive it..
it also has sway bars front and rear does anyone know if that would be original to the suburban?

Other than fixing the rust, I would put a dual master cylinder on it and split the brake lines to front and rear. Don't know about the sway bars, never seen them on a 66, Hopefully someone will chime in with the answer.

Do you know what kind of options came on suburbans?

Welcome to the forum :D

The front sway bar could be stock but I don't think the rear would be. A few of the options on your Burb are the custom appearance option which includes chrome bumpers, polished aluminum grill and the stainless windshield trim. The power brakes and air conditioning are also options. The bumper guards as well as the factory tach are options as well.

it was a 1960, had the ragtop but it was grafted. It was a project but had new pans, channels, adjustible beam and spring plates. I had some money in the bug but I just wasent feeling the VW thing no more.... this guy offered me this for my bug and I just had to jump!!!

Thanks for all the information on my suburban!! I wish i knew if it came that way when new or if they added all this thru out the years.

Good choice, this is harder to find than a '60 rag. Very nice

Great score, you'll like it a lot better than the VW. Looks like a lot of factory equipment on there. You get it road worthy, we'll have to meet up in Louisville or Cincy sometime. I'll drive one of mine over, from just south of Indy.

I love this old thing so far :four:.. bought some old but new to me parts to take care of some rust areas of it but still have a lot to buy still yet, but will have to come as i get some cash built up haha.
I have done got it running and drove it a short drive which was cool. I have had 3 people already asking if it was for sell in just the short time i have owned it and i had to say nope not at this time :dum:

Nice score.
Would be interesting to find out what the tilt column is out of. The '66 truck custom wheel horn ring assembly looks the same as the Chevy II/Nova's but the truck wheel did not have the chrome divider rings on the wheel itself. What does the connector from the column into the wire harness look like?
