Roof to ceiling-top lift
This week end I completed my roof lift (for the non-welder) type. My other limitation was ceiling height in my carport. The ceiling is only 8ft tall, so the fit was tight and could only be handled by a pulley system. It works great, and we had a topless mother's day! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...ons/icon10.gif

Here are the pics for anyone interested. I cannot figure out why it keeps flipping them upside down.

Looks good and gravity is on your side.

Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
Very cool - looks like that will work great. If this is the non-welder type, I'm curious what the welded type looks like - anyone have photos?

Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
Look up bobbyk. He welded a frame to attach to his electric winch.

Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
Where did you source the pullys?

Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
Home depot in the rope and cable section.

Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
I will be doing the same soon. My ceiling is like 12-14 ft so it is going to be a little challenging. Itching to get top off but no where to put it in new house/garage.
Did you drive down Dresden in Brookhaven recently? My neighbor thought he saw me n the kids in mine (Olive Green) ....but it was another green one hauling kids (see stroller in garage). |
Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
That was me. We were driving by a buddy who lives on Aragon. My kids love it.
does your blazer have a grill guard on it? I saw a green one last year parked behind the shops on Dresden. |

Yep, that is me. I live on Winding Lane. Small world. Now to get my top off. I think that is this weekends project. Gonna be nice out. |
Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
Do you know the Dawson's?

Big score on the next door neighbor. He works on classic cars and has awesome rides in and out of his garage all day. He's done some work for me as well. |
Re: Roof to ceiling-top lift
That is a big score. I bought my Blazer from the guy who ran the shop on Clairmont at 85. He recently moved but the shop is still there.
The Dawson's are good people. I'd be happy to help you on the pulley system. I know I was thinking that it sure would be helpful to have another hand or set of eyes on it. you can dm me and we can exchange info. |

After seeing yours, I finished ours. 6'4" off the ground so I don't hit my head. Ratchet straps and eye bolts. I added some cable tether just in case
Straps fail. I reinforced the joints on my trusses as well. |
