WTB- 1985 GMC Sierra Classic dash emblem
 

I need a nice quality or restorable dash emblem for my 85 Sierra Classic.
Yes, I am aware that NOS emblems are bringing huge price. Unfortunately I'm that one Texan that doesnt have an oil well in my back yard, so I cant play that game.

I have found several at fair prices, but they are too pitted to restore. If you have one thats nice quality, or restorable condition lets talk.

Thats crazy, but not uncommon. Anything thats NOS GMC can bring big money from the Middle eastern buyers.

I have quite a few of these. I have not really done anything with them since the reproductions came out. I am curious about what you do when you restore them. I have repainted the black letters when the rest of an emblem is good. The biggest problem I have is trying to fix the silver on the emblem and especially on the end that says GMC. Here is a picture of part of my accumulation. I also have some of the 1973-1980 GMC dash emblems. I would appreciate if you would share what is your restoration process.

No worries. Since the replacement trim comes with holes I have no choice about using an emblem. I prefer it to be correct if possible.

What reproductions? If you know of someone reproducing these please share.

I haven't done this particular style of emblem yet so I'm no expert either. The black can be brushed, or injected by using a syringe. The silver can be done with aluminum paint and a brush. I'm not sure what would work best for the brushed aluminum panel on the end yet. I would try painting, then reproducing the grain with a Scotch bright pad.

I have not been following the Sierra Classic stuff very closely lately. I used to spend a lot of time at junkyards and pull and pay places. I saw they had been reproducing the fender emblems and dash emblems. I did a quick search to find where the reproduction dash emblems can be purchased. I found one place quickly that had them listed but show them as out of stock. I am not sure what that means. If they had them in stock, they would sell for $125. Here is the link I used.

After a little more searching on ebay I found a completed listing for a reproduction dash emblem. It appears to have sold in early March, but the seller shows having sold 7 with zero available.
