Gas Gauge not working

So I have been trying to fix the issue of my gas gauge not working over the past few months when I have free time. I've replaced the fuel sending unit, the ground wire from the sending unit to the frame, the wire from the fuel sender to the fuse box and the fuel gauge itself. I also replaced the circuit board behind the gauges also and the fuel gauge still does not work at all.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The one thing that seemed odd to me is that the wire from the fuel sending unit "plugs" into the front of the fusebox. Is that correct and which place is it supposed to plug into? I am wondering if it was connected in the wrong place.

Thanks for any help in diagnosing this issue!

I don't know what year your truck is but yes the wire has a plugin connector on it and it plugs into the spade terminal that is labeled "FUEL GA." on the fuse panel. Your fuse panel may be different depending on the year of your truck.

Re: Gas Gauge not working

Another quick check is to check the pink wire at the connector of the cluster connector. With the key on it should have battery voltage. If it does not have battery voltage, check the gauge fuse. Also your temp gauge would not move if there is no power on the pink wire. The pink wire will/should be in the #3 position on the connector.

Let me know if you need any further assistance with this.

Take care,
Tom

Re: Gas Gauge not working

I will check the pink wire. Previous owner had an aftermarket temp gauge installed so maybe that was the reasoning for that.

Thank you again!
