1969 New Addition
Purchased this truck in late March from estate of 99 year old original owner. What was going to be a scuff and paint has turned into a big job.
I deleted pictures from photo bucket without realizing they would disappear from my posts. Here is a link to a 7 min youtube slideshow in case anyone is interested it this project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyUqXsIy5nM http://<a href="http://s1348.photobu...ps4q2rc3cj.jpg[/IMG] http://<a href="http://s1348.photobu...ps5cdhpupp.jpg[/IMG] |

Re: 1969 New Addition
Are you going with the same color combo ?
|
Re: 1969 New Addition
Yes same color. I have come to really like that green. I think with a fresh paint job this truck will truly be a head turner.

Re: 1969 New Addition
Hot and humid here. Flies, mosquito's and gnats buzzing in garage. Closed all the overhead doors, turned off the lights and opened the side door. Hoping to encourage them to leave.
The cleaning and preparation seems endless. |

Re: 1969 New Addition
The entire truck has Black Epoxy primer on it. The bedsides and maybe some other places have some orange peel. I plan to spray high build primer. Should the epoxy orange peel be sanded before spraying the high build?

Re: 1969 New Addition
Went out this morning and ran my gloved hand across the truck. Spent a few minutes wet sanding the bedsides and fenders with 400. They are smooth as can be now. There are a few areas where I can see some deep sand scratches. I guess after the high build I will deal with whatever is left. Most of the truck is smooth and perfect. Coming out very nice. I am no pro and have only painted a couple of vehicles many years ago but I don't think my perception of the process is terribly flawed.

Re: 1969 New Addition
Your ok spraying the high build that is what you def needed. The little bit of OP in the epoxy is pretty natural but you can make a air pressure adjustment and do away with 90% of it.Just do a spray out panel[prime something besides the truck like a spare hood]It is all looking really good from what I can see.Sorry I don't know when you asked me to respond to you but I've been at the Country Club most of the weekend playing golf. I'm four min away from the club but it is like a whole nother country when I get to go. It is like a little vacation every time I go

Re: 1969 New Addition
I am hoping that tomorrow is going to be a green day for me and that truck. I hope to paint the engine compartment, interior, door insides and door jambs, Hood jambs and I think that is about all.

I am not sure why the latest pictures look kind of foggy. Maybe some overspray on my camera or something. Omni Paint covered over White Omni Epoxy used as a sealer easily in two coats. I put on at least 3. The Clear went on very nice also. Couple of dust specks here and there and a run or two in the clear. Nothing at least in my opinion that a wet sand and buff won't turn into a show quality paint job though. |
