WTB: 1972 Blazer CST

I listed this under the discussion portion, but I though I would list it here in case anyone knows of one for sale. I'm looking for one that is in near or close to original condition. It can have a slight lift or non original wheels/tires, but don't want one that has been customized. Also, I'm looking for one with no rust, or minor rust that has been fixed. I'd like one that is not a fixer upper (I have enough vehicles I'm working on now). I'd like a really nice one.

It must be a 4X4, the CST package w/ auto. transmission. I like almost every color with the exception of white. I'm not wanting to spend more than around $14,000.

Any out there for sale??

Man, that is a nice looking Blazer. 1970Blazin, I bet yours is going to look nicer than that though.

Thanks bouncytruck!

Don't know how stuck you are on the 72 year, but here is a 70 blazer looks pretty original, I like the front grill on the 69-70 better anyways...

1970Blazin...your such a big help! Thanks for keeping me in mind for a Blazer. I'm pretty stuck on a '72, but I like the 71's also; so if I settled it would be a '71. I guess everyone is different on thier tastes; I personally like the '71/'72 front end. That is bacically why I'm looking for these years. Also, I like the disc brakes on the '72. It's not that I don't like the other years, I do, but I prefer these two years.

I bet yours is going to be nice when it's done!!!

'71

'71 will give you disc brakes as well. Really the only possible benefit of a '72 over a '71 is that you may get a single wall top but even that is a big maybe. Also, '71 has a higher horse power rating than a '72.

True and every 72 I have owned or even seen came with a double wall. At least in Florida.

FYI, CK5 has specs - http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml

Thanks you guys. I didn't know that the '71's had disc brakes. Appreciate the info. So the '71 and the '72' s are pretty simular. The eggcrate type grill looks pretty much the same. I see the horsepower is a bit more in '71. Is there any real noticable differences (cosmetically) between the two?

I know there is a single wall and a double wall top. I see by the comments that the single wall is more desireable. Is that just because less cracking?

They look exactly the same. I think the only difference is HP rating and the rear view mirror mount. The 71 mounts to the metal window frame and the 72 is the stick on the glass kind.

The single wall tops bolt downward to the bed sides and the Double wall bolts from underneath. (single wall is just easier). Double wall is rumored to sometimes split down the middle seam. I say rumored because I have owned 6 of these tops and never had that problem.

2wdBlazer... I see you live in FL. I live in Jacksonville. I don't know exactly where Ruskin is. Is that anywhere near Jax? I'd love to see the yellow 4X4 in person. I really like the 2wd ones also!!!

I am by Tampa. Halfway down FL on the west coast. Your welcome to stop by.

Other difference not mentioned is the interior door panels were plastic and a different style for '72. Exterior appearance is identical. My old '72 had a single wall top and I find it more desirable for a few reasons. One, it has dome lights, two, double wall tops have a tendency to sag on top, and three, they are lighter and easier to remove and install. That being said, not sure of the specific numbers but probably 50% or less of the '72s came with a single wall so I'd definitely broaden your search to include the '71s as well. If you end up with a '72 and a single wall top, bonus!

Mark70Z 10-02-2003 03:05 PM

Yes....I'm not that pickey of whether the top is a single or double wall. With what you guys are telling me the '71 would be fine with me along with the '72. I do like the interior doors on the '72 CST model; I'm unsure if I have seen original '71 inner door panels to know what the difference is. I'll have to look at some of the pics. out there; I'm sure I can find a picture of them somewhere.

There are a few Blazers that people on this site have that I'd love to own one day. They're really nice looking.

A couple of must have's are.... Automatic, A/C, CST, and non white, and close to original. Other than that (and I know that's a lot) I'd settle for different colors, lifts, interior color, etc.

I have been looking for a nice 72 cheyenne 4x4,but I wouldn't mind that red blazer at all:)

Mark70Z 10-02-2003 10:34 PM

1970Blazin... Where did you find the Ochre or yellow one? I haven't seen this one on a website before. Was there any more pics of this one? Looks like it has the right price on it; that's for sure. I'd like to see more pics of this one. I'll try the phone number tomorrow on this one. Thanks for the info. I don't know where you come up with all these!!!

I have talked to the fellow with the red one (real nice guy) At the time he was wanting more than he is asking for now (think it was 15K), but it looks like he's coming down. It looks really nice; It didn't have a back seat and I was wanting one (I know I could find one). The main thing that concerned me was that it appeared to have many reproduction parts on it. So I didn't know if it had a bunch of rust or something else happened?? It was far away, so I didn't want to take the chance at going all the way out there. I offered him a price, but he said it was too low, and I didn't blame him for not taking it; I'm sure he can get more.
