Re: Best bargain sound deadner/ heat shield
I used Fat Mat on my 03 Silverado Crew Cab. I did 2 layers on the floor, and 1 layer on all the doors, and it was still cheaper than the next competitor. I will definitely be using Fat Mat on my 69 and my 77

If you want to decrease sound you need to go with CCF and MLV. Those stick products are to decrease resonance not block sound.

Re: Best bargain sound deadner/ heat shield
Here is a great thread on it: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=559596
and another post about it: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...5&postcount=54 Here is a good website that explains it all: https://www.sounddeadenershowdown.co...-vehicle-quiet You can get it all online. The issue is that MLV is heavy. You can get different pounds per square foot but the shipping is what kills you. If you can find it locally you are golden. Its kinda hard to work the MLV in tighter spots and depending on what you have close to the floor you might have some clearance issues (gas peddle). Ideally you would want it completely connected. I have used it on other people cars and it makes a huge difference. |

I used the advice from sounddeadener showdown and I used Noico on my floors for the vibration dampener & ccf
https://www.amazon.com/Noico-deadeni.../dp/B00URUIKAK https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00UR...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For the mlv I used this product from Home Depot http://m.homedepot.com/p/4-ft-x-8-ft...96BX/100663624 |

And will any of that stuff that he used help with heat? I get a lot of heat from the firewall and front floor. I have a cigarette lighter usb charger for my phone that displays volts and temp. (I dunno why it shows air temp but it does so ok) and it settles in around 107 degrees if it's not too hot out. So a couple of feet away from the firewall and a couple of feet off of the floor, it's getting HOT! |

Does anyone have any recommendations when it comes to the kick panels? How would you block noise from there?

Re: Best bargain sound deadner/ heat shield
Go to sound deadener showdown and get their CLD Tiles. I think I spent a little over $100 for my '86. I was able to find MLV locally and got more than I needed for $65. The CC foam I got for around $20. It's work, but when done correctly there isn't much better you can do.
Edit: I jut saw you're in westchester, NY. The place I got my MLV from was in Montclair, NJ which isn't too bad of a drive. |
Re: Best bargain sound deadner/ heat shield

Re: Best bargain sound deadner/ heat shield
I to have fatmat in both of my trucks. And the biggest proem I found, is it doesn't resist heat well. I had 3 layers on the passenger side, which is where the exhaust runs on my dually, and it got so hot towing through Nevada, that it melted the fatmat and my wife couldnt put her feet on the floor. I also had a bagged and body dropped c10, that I ran 2 layers of fatmat, and the same problem, it melted to the carpet and didn't resist heat. Works great for sound control and reducing rattle. If you use it, I recommend using a foam with some sort of heat control.

Re: Best bargain sound deadner/ heat shield
Lay the fatmat for sound and rattle insulation. Then use a foam with a foil to reflect heat. I have foam from a generator enclosure on a yacht, it is 1" thick, with lead shielding, and thick reflective foil. Floor stays cold.
