Need steering column help
 

I took the steering wheel off a few months ago and now I can't remember how a couple of the parts go back. The spring is the biggest brain fart for me. I am putting a new aftermarket wheel kit on and it's not exactly like original so I got stumped. I am going to order a new bearing for top of column tomorrow. It has some play in it and I figure it shouldn't have any.

I also had this wire sticking out of the turn signal can. I pulled it out because I have a new one. What created this whole mess was that I had a hard time getting old wheel off and I put some heat to it. I ended up melting the signal cam. I'm not sure if this was the way it should be or something a PO put in there.

Here is the wheel kit that I have. I'm not worried about mounting the wheel, I just want to make sure that my horn and turn signals work as they should.

Looks like your kit has all the correct parts to add your new wheel. Many different cancel cams, 72 and up, that spring does not look correct for a 72. Snap some photo's when your done...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=559128

is your column a tilt column? The wire you show does sit in the turn signal cam(it goes into that tube). that spring looks like the one for tilt steering-it goes under the plate. hard to say without seeing the entire column.

It isn't a tilt column...the problem is I threw everything away for the old wheel and this spring was in the floor board the other day. I was thinking it was for old horn but I am wanting to make sure.

Got it finished up. Went very smoothly. I just took supplied red wire and cut aftermarket connector off and crimped old connector and pushed it down into signal cam. I made my own ground wire and mounted it to one of the 3 hex bolts holding the hub on.
