My 1968 IH Travelall
 

Hey all, here's my new project. A 1968 International Harvester Travelall. I bought it from a guy in Montana and had it shipped down here to Kansas. The first picture is when it first arrived, and the second one is when I put on BFG TA, 31 X 10.5 X 15 AT. The wheels I bought from Chuxs Trucks and they are American Racing Baja's.
I was really wanting to get a 72 Burb (again) but bought this in honor of my Grandparents who were really big IH fans.

i had several 60's travelalls in between suburbans.the only problem is, if you dont have the line ticket for the original build on the assembly line, you need the part in hand to buy replacement anythings.!! other wise they will run forever ! Good Luck

Tough trucks, My family hit a bull with a similar panel truck. No one seriously hurt, bull died and sheet metal/bumper replaced

I'm loving my T-all but top speed is 55-60 mph max. Can anyone tell me what my options are to getting her to go faster down the highway??

International is no different than any other make as far as gearing goes. First figure out what ring and pinion gear ratio you have and then switch them out to the ratio that fits both your tire size and desired cruising speed/rpm. Your truck has Dana axles which were used in Chevys Fords Mopar Jeeps and a whole bunch of other makes too. Lots of gearing choices and traction aiding options available.

You'll have to get in touch with a few good 4x4 shops for pricing. But first, get in touch with Mike from IH Only out in Cali and tell him what you're looking to do with your rig. I think a good buffing job would bring the paint out and give it back a good shine. I've watched on you tube but everyone has their own way. Can someone recommend a good way to buff? What brand, do I use a clay bar? I'm not sure on using an electric sander because I'm afraid it will leave scratch marks. has anyone done this and how did it work?

Can someone recommend a set of shocks for my girl? Front and back? I'm thinking Monroe gas??

I have always liked Rancho shocks on my 4by's. The RS5000 works well. Even better is the RS9000 which is adjustable. Pretty handy to dial the ride in with a twist of the knob.
