question on vin number and tire size
Hello all, I have two questions. My first question is about the vin on my 1993 chevy extended cab 2wd long bed. When I run the vin online it keeps coming back as a 6.5 ft. bed. Just wondering why? The other question is my truck currently has 15 inch rims and was wondering is that what it come with stock on 93 2wd? I would like to get the biggest(tallest) all season tires possible just too set the truck up a little taller for more ground clearance and looks. Also can I go with 16 inch rims? The rims on there now are a nice set of chrome American racing rims and I would like to keep them if I can still get the taller stance I am looking for. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: question on vin number and tire size
Nothing in the VIN itself will say whether it's a longbed or a shortbed so most, if not all, sites like carfax or the like will automatically say it's a shortbed.
All C1500 2WD pickups had 15" wheels. Largest tire available was a 235/75/15. You can safely run a 31/10.5/15 if you want to keep 15" wheels and the truck isn't lowered. Yes, you can run 16s with no problem. |
Re: question on vin number and tire size
You can also run 255/70/15's if you want to keep the stock tire diameter so the speedo isn't off. They are a tad wider than the 235's and look a little better IMO.
You can run any size wheel 15' or bigger, it will depend on if you encounter potholes on a regular basis and if there's a good wheel repair shop in town. :P |
