1969 Custom Camper?
I just bought what is badged as a Custom Camper. It appears to be original and has the extra 6 inches on the bed. Does anyone know if Chevy had such an animal in 1969 and what were the differences other than bed and badge. The SPID is too faint to be legible. Thanks

Re: 1969 Custom Camper?
If you are saying that the bed is 6" longer, and the total bed length is 8' 6"
its a Longhorn, the Custom Camper is just one of the added options on your truck. All Longhorns are 133" wheel base, and had wood bed floor. Yes it was avalable in 1969 |

You should have the emblem in the picture below. Z81 is the RPO you should see on the SPID to know it's originally a Custom Camper. As burb said - the two are unrelated, but Z81 was an option that was probably more often checked on a longhorn (a truck built specifically for campers) than on a C10 swb truck, for example. Selecting Z81 only gave you the name plate, but required that you have a few HD options on the truck already (min equipment list, etc). Longhorn is a 133" wheelbase as opposed to the normal 127" lwb. Allowed for the larger (largest) campers and was only available as C20/30 (no K's). Post some pics! Sounds like a nice combo already!

I will set up a build thread soon as I get the project moving. Thanks for the answers.

Also my SPID was totally fade so not much help. I now understand Longhorn and the Custom Camper option.
