Finding The Correct Clutch for a 1968 GMC Pickup

Hey guys, I have a 1986 GMC 910 that needs a clutch. The truck has a V8 327 engine coupled to a SM-465 transmission. The clutch disc is 11" and it is a 10 spline shaft. This site --> http://www.canadapartsonline.com/sea...9&No=10&Npp=10 has a clutch that meets my specs (the RH04072) but says that the clutch only fits a 1968: Base; 6 Cyl 3.8L; or a 1968: Base; 6 Cyl 4.1L. Is there any reason why this clutch wouldn't fit my 327, or are the mounting holes the same?

Thanks for any input.

No reason at all, but the clutch for the 230 or the 250 may be 10''. Step up the application to a 71 with a 350. See what comes up then

its been a while but I was able to put a 12 inch clutch in the same application where an 11 inch clutch once resided. same pressure plate bolt pattern and all. Its been a while so i dont know the details in terms of part numbers. it required no modifications or alterations. no increased pedal pressure or anything like that. If anybody knows more about it or relatibe part numbers. maybe contribute. I know it can be done and it was not a hassle. That was in a 69 1 ton three on the column with a 307 2 bbl.

Well the RH04072 has all the same specs as my original clutch (both 11 inch) so basically it should bolt up without a problem? Why do they specify a certain engine if it fits more sizes than it lists?

Who knows? It seems for the past 6-7 years as 'technology' prevails we're losing tons of information in the auto industry. Luckily I am saving all of my older books.

I tried that and it still says it fits a 1971: Base; 6 Cyl 4.1L. From what I'm gathering it seems as though it should fit my truck. The image on the website shows that the clutch has lots of holes in it so chances are one of them will line up. I've attached a pic of my old clutch and the one online to see what you guys think.

EDIT: I probably should've mentioned I am looking at a clutch disc and pressure plate kit.

I don't think you'll have any problems
