What is the stock rim for a 1969 C-20 Custom Camper
The wheels and tires it came with are 9.5 R 16.5. Steelies with hubcaps.
My spare looks to be original Firestone nylon and it is a 7.5 R 16 that is a split rim. What did this truck come with stock? |
Re: What is the stock rim for a 1969 C-20 Custom Camper
3/4 ton 2WD trucks required 7.50X16 8 ply rated tube type tires, 8.75X16.5 8 ply rated tubeless tires (if GVW did not exceed 7000#) or 9.50X16.5 8 ply rated tubeless in order to qualify for the Custom Camper nameplate according to info on the GM Heritage Center website. All were bias ply. So both of your sizes are "correct". The SPID in the glove box, if there, should list the optional tire size.
Off the top of my head, I'd bet yours came with 9.50X16.5. |

I would say 9.50X16.5 also. If the SPID is still on the inside of the glovebox door it should say what size.
I have a 69 C/20 Custom Camper also and currently run 265/75/16 Michelins on 16 x 7 F#rd van rims (same bolt pattern and same nubs for hubcaps). The only difference with F#rd rims are they're lug centric, not hub centric. |

The Tire size is not listed on the SPID. Truck is rated 7,500 GVW. I like the steelies and hubcaps look, but would prefer the 16" rims to make tires easier to find. Thinking about running 285/75/16 tires in the rear with the stock 4:11 gears to make highway speeds more feasible. I will look out for some of the Ford Rims. Didn't know these would fit chevy hubcaps.
Thanks for the responses. |
