1950 Chevy 4400 Brake Parts?
We have a '50 Chevy 4400 1.5 ton in the shop for a brake overhaul. I haven't been able to find new shoes or wheel cylinders. The part number stamped into the front wheel cylinder is 1074903 which interchanges with Wagner FD3406. Haven't got the back apart yet to see if they have numbers on them. I can find rebuild kits for the master and wheel cylinders, but the wheel cylinders are too pitted to be useable.
Is there a source for buying the master/wheel cylinders, or will I have to have them bored and sleeved? Same for the shoes- are they available new, or will they have to be relined? |

All Raybestos numbers, they have a good online catalog for older medium/heavy trucks. Carquest and Oreilly's should be able to interchange these numbers. Carquest used to carry Raybestos parts until Advance bought them out.

Even if you find replacement cylinders, eventually they also will be too pitted to be rebuilt. If it's a long-term prospect, sleeving will be easier/cheaper/safer in the long run.
