Tail Light selection

5 Attachment(s)
Im finally winding up the bed section of my build---and Id like your opinion.
Ive wanted oval tail lights from the beginning, now that I have them mounted----???. I would also like to run backup lights, but the factory lights may be too much with the ovals. (the one backup lite is just mocked up, not mounted yet)
Tell me what you think---(be nice though--Im old and I cry easily!!!) lol

Re: Tail Light selection

I'm not really feeling the stock reverse lights with those oval tailights, the reverse are too big. Maybe a smaller circular reverse tucked under the twilight, either centered or more towards the body. Not sure the exact size of those tails but a circular reverse light that's 2" or less would probably look good. Don't rule out a euro style clear motorcycle turn signal stuffed with a white led. That should put out some decent light and there's all sorts of styles and sizes.

Edit: It probably goes against your intentions, but turning the tail 90 degrees and having a small circular reverse under might be cool. Although it would look a little like an exclamation point! Lol

I agree the reverse lights are too big, maybe run a bright white led on each side of the rear plate or small lenses tucked into the bed rail??? I think it looks clean with the ovals only

I am more of a stock light guy. But those ovals look a little too "petite" to me. Maybe 2 of them on each side up-and-down instead of one sideways with a stock backup light? Just an idea I guess

I like all the idiots behind me to know I'm stopping... I kept the stock lights with bright LED's on my stepside. The bigger the better, without looking goofy.

Ok you asked , sorry but those are bu** ugly . They're to small , don't fit the body flow , and look like something you'd see on a Ford ? Yeah I said the four letter word (Ford) Look at the chrome 54-59 tail lights . They have the vintage look and are a smaller profile than stock and look great ! . Just my grumpy old opinion .

Thanks for the opinions so far guys-----Im still looking for "something" before I wire them up. Finding "something" that is the right size and shape----- Ive seen some really neat lights, but would require cutting them into the fenders, and that Aint gonna happen.

I am not feeling it neither, personally this would be a hard decision if you don't like the factory size lights.

With the factory back up lights, factory tails with LED will look really good, they'll dang near blend in with the red too.

I thought they would look stupid at first, but after a while they kinda grow on you.

Played with the lights again--

The ovals look better vertically mounted---but Im thinking still too small???

I guess either larger ovals or smaller round lights??? Either way Ill have to fab new brackets and paint them.
Think Im going to get on with the construction while I "consider" ideas.

Paint the brackets truck color and we have a winner ;)

Re: Tail Light selection

Well, I hate to admit a mistake, but-------------- the ovals aren't working for me and the polished stainless bracket isn't either. So,,, Ive already sanded and primed the backup lite brackets and the old painted tail light brackets are next.
At least for the time being, Im still looking around for diff. lights----but the project needs to get finished, I can always come back with something diff. later. Ill have all the brackets painted by the weekend.

Well.... You can never go wrong with stock parts .

Re: Tail Light selection

The ovals would look markedly better if the bracket was not overpowering them. If you used a smaller dark bracket so they looked more like they were floating there.
