Gas tank sending unit 1975 C-10???
 

I need a new gas tank sending unit for my 1975 C-10 step side with passenger side only tank. Sending unit has two pipes one for fuel supply and the other for charcoal canister.

If GM does not sell a replacement sending unit what is my next best option?

Shoot all i see is Spectra FG05B.

Thanks Cadillac_al I will do what you said if Spectra is my only option.

I have read sketchy reviews about the Spectra units and was hoping there was a higher quality option. I wish I had purchased an AC Delco sending unit when they were still available.

I can’t even find out what the AC Delco sending unit part number was.

Try Rock Auto to get the gm part number/ac delco part number. Also try www.oewarehouse.com and www.oehq.com

Those two links show my truck uses AC Delco FLS1098 sending unit.

Looks like Rock Auto recently sold FLS1098 a Google search found this?

Does nay one know any thing about the sending units that Classic Parts of America sells?

Just looking at the pictures the sending units look close to the original sending units.

for what it's worth I deleted my charcoal canister and just installed a single outlet sending unit I think I went with something from the 67-72 era trucks, works great, I was worried about gasoline stink in the garage but there is absolutely no odder, and the tank vents through a brand new gasoline cap (which I totally recommend replacing at the same time you replace the sending unit)

I would call Classic Parts and ask them directly if the sending unit is AC Delco. I would doubt that it is, since ACD is a selling feature that all vendors emphasize. I would keep searching google for a good price on that ACD sending unit. If you get a cheap sending unit you will likely have to watch the bouncing gas gauge, which drives me nuts, so I only look at the gas gauge when I first get in the truck.

$110 with free shipping sounds good to me, but you have to call for availability. If oewarehouse does not have it, try oehq. or google.

The problem with most aftermarket senders is the float arm pivot is used to pass the rheostat wiper ground. The float arm doesn't make good contact with the gauge body through the pivot when the vehicle is in motion because it can't be tight enough to bind up and has problems with contact because of that.
I would guess the ACD senders have a better engineered conductor arrangement from the wiper to the stationary sender body. You could accomplish the same by soldering copper braid from the float arm to the suction pipe or some other close stationary part of the sender.
The other option is to damp the actual fuel gauge with a special non hardening damping gel to slow the shaft movement.

Yes I know the Classic Parts sending unit is NOT AC Delco it just does not have any plastic parts showing.
I would rather not have a sending unit with any plastic if possible.

What little I have found says the last AC Delco sending unit for my truck was FLS1098 or #19180458. This sender uses plastic parts and a flat ceramic resistor wafer that uses surface resistance material not wire. I already have one of these sending units and I am not impressed.

The previous part number appears to be #25000610 and it looks like the original sending unit with no plastic showing but these are rare.
