If not, what's next best option? Thanks.

It may - here is a bit more information from somebody who has gone before you on doing this install though so you are informed...
Not sure if the tooling has changed since this post but looks like there are some minor tweaks to get everything close to stock. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=655031 |
Re: Does anyone know if the windshield frame repair "kit" will fix this?
I have replaced my header using the very parts that are referenced in the previous post. The kit will not fix all the rust shown in your picture. I am not aware of any replacement parts for the rust shown in that picture. The only good option is to find that post from a donor truck. I have a 70 blazer and found a 71 truck for a donor vehicle and was able to cut them out and replace mine and then add the new replacement header pieces. If you need the windshield frame and posts, 1rippen may have what you need.

This is how I fixed mine. It was simple, strong and unnoticeable.

It won't fix that but if you have rust there you will likely need the kit to fix the rest of the frame up. You can scavenge the pieces from any 67-72 pick up truck to fix the rust that you pictured.
