WTB swb 4x4 frame
After spending a pretty decent amount of money on an 1972 swb k10, that I bought from a supposed "1 Owner" that had only been repainted once with a complete original untouched drive train. Has a bent frame. The front axle is crooked. :waah:
Does anybody have a good, straight, original swb 4x4 frame for sale? I dont need it to be a roller. just the frame and brackets. |
Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame

Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame
one last bump before I try and figure something else out.
Closer to utah the better. Has to be a weekend trip, cant take off work! |
Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame
Bringing it up. I took my frame to a reputable body shop that had a frame rack, they said its not worth your time/money trying to fix my frame. saying it is bent 1" in the "diamond" section and the right front frame sits lower then the left.
Still searching for a good ORIGINAL shortbed 4x4 frame (close to utah if possible) will even give you my old frame if you wanted/needed it. |

Thanks jerry! I tried calling Bill but the voice-mail said he will be out of the office for the rest of the month. If I don't find one by then I will be giving him a call. |

Its buried an covered up behind a bunch of his other projects. I'm in no hurry to get it home, happy with him storing it for me. I'm just not sure if I'm going to keep it or move it someday. Hence my curiosity on the value. |

Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame
They are getting harder and harder too find, especially just a rolling chassis. Your almost better off finding a project someone gave up on or tore apart and go that route and sell off the stuff you don't need. I keep an eye out for those frames all the time, and the northern/east coast stuff is usually rougher than the stuff out ya'lls way.
As far as a price point, it is really all over the place. I just sold a 68 swb rolling frame that needed a little bit of work but was overall really decent for 1650.00. I'm sure if it was a 72' chassis it would of went for more. Good luck with your search. If i run across something in your area i'll shoot ya a PM. |
Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame
I know you're wanting a true short wheel base frame I have a short wheel base 4 by 4 frame that was a long wheelbase but it's been professional z cut if you're interested but it is not a true short wheel base frame it was a long wheelbase that's been shortened it is here in Utah

How much are you looking to get for this? And you said professionally done? Did they fish plate it? Was this previously a 72 4x4 long bed? Im pretty interested especially finding this so close to me. |

Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame
I bought a 1970 GMC 4 X 4 pickup in SLC Utah turns out it has a 1972 Chevrolet 1/2 ton short bed 4 X 4 Frame when we had it sand blasted. It had been cracked and welded on the drivers side between the steering box and front spring hanger. Someone had put very heavy front springs on. When I changed to 4 inch skyjacker softride springs the frame twisted out on the drivers side. What I'm getting at is I need a drivers side frame rail for a 1971 to 1972 short bed 4 X 4. If you get to a point of parting your frame out.

Re: WTB swb 4x4 frame
I've got an original sb 4x4 chassis in Nor Cal about an hour north of Lake Tahoe. It's from a 1970. I don't believe there's any difference with a 72'. It's under a couple of feet of snow right now but could be exhumed for the right money. Don't know if it's too far for you. Thanks, Ken
