I've had a similar issue when replacing an alternator on a conversion with custom brackets. The new alt pulley came with less ribs than the old one so we just got a belt with less ribs and it was fine. That belt ran the a/c as well and the truck made it from Colorado to California, spent a year there and then drove back to Iowa with no issues.
