67 gmc 305e v6
Hi, new to the fourm. Looking at a 67 truck that has the 305 v6 in it. Trying to tell if it is the original motor or not. what do the last set of numbers mean in the sequence stamped on the right of the motor in front of the cylinder head? And is there a vin number stamped in it that matches the truck body like a Chevy does? Any info on this would be great. Thanks

Re: 67 gmc 305e v6
I don't know about the 305 per se, but on the rest of the motors they did NOT stamp the partial VIN or sequence. So my original motor 396 truck can only be documented by dates and castings.
That's likely the best you'll do as well - the right 3-letter casting on the motor to say it's for a 67 truck, and the truck saying it came with a 305, and the dates on the motor preceding the date of the truck build by some reasonable margin. |

I can tell you that some 67's did come with the 305, cant tell you if yours did, is it listed on the glove box?

Re: 67 gmc 305e v6
...My 67 GMC Short Stepper had a 305 V6 with PowerGlide 2 Spd Tranny..They were sitting beside the truck mounted together when I went to pick up the truck. owner said they were original but I didn't won't them. There was no spid on glove box door but I've seen other places on line that say those were original.
