Any way to move the bench seat further back? Crew Cab
I just bought a '77 Crew Cab. I'm only 6' tall but the bench is still too close to the steering wheel for comfortable driving. Anyone modified the tracks or their position to get more room?

I've never done a Square. But all the other vehicles I've owned I've used 1/4" plate steel and just made relocation brackets to move the seat back. As long as there is nothing on the floor to stop you from doing so, that's the easiest route.

Did you ever get your seat modified to give you more room? The other option would be to go to a smaller steering wheel. It would at least give you some room for your legs.

I haven't changed it. I guess I got used to it. I do still plan to modify it for a little more travel or tilt back. A smaller steering wheel would help too.

I agree with the steering wheel. I got one with "zero dish" and it gave me enough extra room for decent comfort at 6'3"

I'm going to push mine towards the dash. I don't want to move the seat to keep as much room in the back as possible.
anyone have the link for collapsing the column? |

I've had thoughts of swapping to an IDIDIT or flaming river column to get the length change. I may call them and see if they make something that easily swaps in. EDIT- very expensive to go aftermarket. http://www.ididitinc.com/i-29487510-...tegory:1310145 |
