Underside of drip rail?

I have found tons of information concerning the top side of the drip rails and filling them with self leveling seam sealer. But, what about the underside of the drip rails where they meet the top of the door jam area? I remember years ago scraping some sort of putty out of this seam.
What are you guys doing if anything to smooth that seam out? I'm guessing duraglass?

Curious of this myself. I have two areas that are rusted through. Would love to see a good way to fix my drip rail.

If it's rusted through? After you hit it with a wire wheel and knock some rust through?
