Starter Identification Help
 

I'm looking at replacing my starter on the truck because this old starter i have is gutless and the solenoid is cracked and overheating anyways. My question is this...from these pictures, can any of you tell me or not if this is a straight bolt pattern starter? which is compatible to the last picture?

sorry forgot to mention it's in my 67' with a 350SBC and a Rockwell 4spd manual transmission. Not sure how many teeth on the flywheel

Thanks again...looking to buy this soon. would like to start driving this thing again.

need to see the area where the starter bolts to the block.....the straight pattern is exactly that...the holes are straight across from each other. The staggered pattern has the hole closest to the block offset back from the other one.....not in a "straight" line.....

The box says for 153 and 168 tooth flywheel ? I always figured the straight across was for the smaller 153 and staggered was for the 168 ?

ok...well tonight i'll pull the starter and try to get a better picture of the starter and the block where it mounts.

You don't have to pull it. Just a look from the bottom works

The dual holes in your replacement starter are what allow it to be used with either flywheel. If you own the mini-starter just replace your other one. Doesn't matter what you have new, the new one will replace it. Will only fit up one way because it won't reach the flywheel or if would be too close if you use the wrong set of holes.

But knowing what is in there will let you know how many teeth are on your flywheel for future reference.

I have to pull it anyways, so I might as well just do that and get some better pictures.
