One more time - How did you find this site...
I was actually looking for a mid-50 1/2 ton Chevy truck and by accident in a web search I found this site - the rest is history :metal:

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
I was looking for a source of parts, since at the time, the number of trucks in the yards was starting to deminish. That was back in 1997

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
This site was given to me from a now past member when he sold his truck to me. That's it in a nut shell.
My Avatar is a wheel and a lug nut. You know like SWB nut or C10 nut and the nuts go on & on. My picture Avatar explained is "Wheel Nut" |
Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
I think I was searching for truck parts in High School using "yahoo search" and came upon the site in 1999. The forum/site looked NOTHING like it does now. I started lurking around 2002-ish but didn't join until 2004. This was the first "forum" I ever joined.

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
I was using google for random information on these trucks and realized 99% of my answers were from this site so I joined up and have been learning more than I could ever remember since.

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
I was in Afghanistan, looking for a place where I could purchase a '67 GMC 3/4lwb. Found this site using a google search. During my tour there, I searched around and actually found a decent '69 C-10 lwb with a 396BB that a member had for sale at a fair price. When I returned from my tour, I met up with the member who didn't live far away and closed the deal.
Still wish I could find a nice '67 3/4t GMC, but the '69 is filling the void for the time being. Maybe when the "right" '67 shows up, I will sell to '69 to provide the funds for the '67 purchase. |
Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
Had a 64 el Camino and saw a cool 66 c10 I had to have. Started researching thru Google and fell across the sight. Found out how awesome the c10 folks are. Grew up in the vw scene which the people are very similar. Just love their vehicles and willing to help others. Now moved over to this group with my 69.

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
I Googled for sites about the 67-72 GM trucks. I looked through 4-5 sites to compare which ones seemed to have the most and best activity, so I joined this one.
We just picked up a 70 GMC K20 to work on and make a DD. I also follow another truck thread for another make, so I wanted to find one comparable. |
Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
Jan 2003 I was looking for info on a 71 GMC I bought. Occasionally lurked until I joined in 2005.

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
My friend Mr. Google. When I was about to start the restoration of my 69, I searched for something like 1967- 1972 Chevy truck forum. This site popped up 1st. I didn't look any further.

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
I bought my first truck in 2001. Used it a bit then and due too some personal problems when I parked it in the fall of 2001 I didn't use it again until the summer 0f 2003.. I don't remember exactly how I found this site but it was probably through a search. To register on the site I had to have a name and I was listening to the Eagles song Already Gone as i was reading that so hence my 67-72 name Already Gone. Checking out the site is a daily thing for me and I hope the site format and values never change.

Re: One more time - How did you find this site...
Good question !
... it's April in the year 2000 AD, the world was supposed to have ended more than 4 months ago ... yet to my amazement my computer still works and I see the sun has risen once again ! ohhh what a glorious thing it is to still be alive ! I type in "1971 GMC" into the subject line on "Altavista" (my search engine of choice) and much to my delight my lightning-fast state-of-the-art 56k dial-up modem sends me a list of topics matching my query after waiting only a minute or two ... And the rest, as they say, is history ! :metal: |
