What to do with new bed wood for selling truck

Can't decide which way to go with the 24k mile barnfinds bed wood. I have to sell the truck soon before I go to college. If I were keeping it id paint the wood and strips black like original. But, from a buyers perspective, what would be the best?

1. Nice satin black like factory (67 was the last year for this)
2. Stained and coated
3. Left untreated? Then they could decide. Or would this take value from the buyer who doesn't want to work on it.. Won't need anything to be a great driver so.

I want to paint it for originality to match the rest of the truck and the durablilty compared to other coatings, but I'm sure most people would prefer pretty stained wood. Let's hear your thoughts!

Leave it alone and let the new owner decide !

x2. Anybody buying one of these trucks not wanting to have to work on it must have bumped their head and need to go to Car Max for a late model with Carfax report and warranty.

:agree:

Especially a "patina truck." If you were selling a turn key show truck, eh, maybe the buyer would be someone that would have a shop do everything.

Are the metal strips bare metal now?? They don't look chrome or stainless?

Untreated wood outside in the weather doesn't last forever...

But no, I would not paint it. I've seen very very very few trucks where anyone actually duplicated the factory painted look.

All good inputs. I would be following MAR-K's test procedure and using POR-15 topcoated with Beyr exterior paint. I think it looks pretty factory. The truck has really nice original paint rather than patina. Could be buffed out perfect, but I'm leaving that up to the buyer.

I am leaning towards painting it. The strips are bare metal because that was the plan. So I'd have to at least paint them if I left it. Either red or black
